What happens during a CT examination?

The Computed tomography uses X-rays to produce sectional images of the body. The examination bench moves through a short annular scanner. What is important before contrast medium administration?

For some questions, a Contrast agent improves the presentation of organs or vessels. Inform the team about previous contrast medication reactions, kidney disease, thyroid disease, medications, and a possible pregnancy. What laboratory values are required and whether a special preparation is necessary, clarifies the application in advance.

A feeling of warmth during an intravenous contrast medium administration may occur. If you feel uncomfortable or notice new complaints, inform the team immediately. Medications should only be changed according to medical instructions.
